Immersion Assembly

On Monday the 12th of October, we had our Term 4 Immersion Assembly.Teachers,families and kids were supportive and all came to watch.

The topic and message for this term is PES Survivors Outlast,Outwit and Outsmart.The theme for this term is about animals and how they adapt in a different environment. One of the movies was about Animals they had to find where they were and it was from  Team 4.

In one presentation we saw Team 1 with Karaoke,it woul’ve of been challenging to do karaoke on stage.

For the overall Assembly we have learn’t to adapt,outlast,outwit.I liked the performance because it taught us about animals and how to outwit!

Holiday Highlight

In the sunny holidays I went to celebrate the maori new year. It is called Matariki.

When walked to see the lights in a park in Glen Innes. I felt like the whole park was lit up.

The lights were called the matariki light trail because there was trails of lights. They twinkled at me.

As I walked in the muddy trail my arms and legs were freezing cold. All my cousins and I were playing hide and clap. It was so fun!

How to play hide and clap is there is a person with a material and there is people hiding in the lights.The person has to say 1th clap 2 clap,3 clap.

In reading we read a book called Ancient but earthquake proof. In the story there was a building that couldn't be busted down by an earthquake. It was in Athens, Greece.
Here are some questions it made me think about and the answers I found.

Paragraph writing- Man in Space

This week we have been learning to rework our writing to make our paragraphs interesting for our audience. 

We started by writing a creative sentence about this picture. As a class we will choose Nate's sentence because we liked it the best and wrote a paragraph each to follow the chosen sentence. Here is the beginning of my story that starts with Nate's sentence.

                                                       

A spaceman bravely walks out into the icy milkyway. He bounces across the stars to his rocket ship. He had a great walk out in space.

When he got to his ship he saw a strange looking thing he said “what is that? Oh it’s an alien.”

As the alien was looking at the human the human was jumping as fast as he could but the alien was just standing there. the human looked back at the alien.The alien had humongous! eye’s and had a green face.

The human was scared.But he was not scared of the alien because he thought that was an scary thing.but it’s just an alien.

On the school holiday’s went to a holiday program in Dunkirk Road.My sister and I went to the Paraki spring pools. I was so excited!!! We went in a big bus!

When we got there I and my sister walked inside the pools and sat down and waited to get changed. As we were waiting I had I little snack.

What is easter

People have different beliefs about Easter. Some people think it is about bunnies, easter eggs, food, when Jesus Christ was resurrected and some people don’t celebrate it.

Year 5 and 6 Camp

On a bright and sunny Wednesday morning the year 5 and 6 students went to camp at Pt England school. I WAS SO SO EXCITED! We went into groups and I was in the Matapono e group. We had leaders and their names were Machell and Alfa. We had a lot of activities to do!

Our first activity was the rollerblades. There were three things that we could play there. It was in the hall. There were 2 basketball hoops,4 ping pong tables and a lot of rollerblades!

At year 5,6 camp it was awesome because on the first night we went to watch the lego movie in my own class. Some people from my class were watching the lego movie in Mr S’s class. After we watched the lego movie we went back in our tents.

When I went in my own tent the teachers said goodnight. All of the teachers had to wake back up because they had to wake all of us back up for jump jam and to brush our teeth and wash our faces.

I liked kayaking the best because it was my first time. I hope next time is we can stay at school for longer.
